Good morning, guys. This morning I'd like to have a look at a Blusteele clutch kit to suit a Nissan Patrol. The particular model we're talking about today is the GU Patrol with the 3.0L ZD30 Turbo-Diesel engine (ZD30DDTi).

Before looking at the components, it is critical to clarify the model dates for the ZD30:

• Early Models (2000 to September 09/2004): Uses a solid flywheel setup with an integrated ring gear (Part Number: BNN-9278-SS).

• Late Models (October 10/2004 Onward): Uses a flywheel that mounts against a separate factory ring gear drive plate (Part Number: BNN-9297-SS).

You must know the exact build date of your ZD30 GU Patrol when ordering the correct conversion kit.

Early Model Kit Breakdown: BNN-9278-SS (2000 to 09/2004)

This kit converts your factory Dual-Mass Flywheel (DMF) to a heavy-duty Solid-Mass Flywheel (SMF) in Blusteele’s top-tier Survivor Series 4WD spec:

• Billet Chromoly Flywheel: A heavy, premium-quality 4140/4145 billet Chromoly flywheel complete with a pre-installed ring gear and Blusteele’s radial claw-grooving on the friction face. You completely remove the factory dual-mass unit and bolt this solid flywheel directly in its place.

• SGI Iron Pressure Plate: An upgraded, high-clamp SGI (Spheroidal Graphite) cast iron cover assembly. Features a burst-proof cover designed for severe off-road and towing conditions while maintaining factory-like pedal pressure.

• Double-Sprung Clutch Disc: A sprung-center clutch disc featuring premium LUK organic friction material and heavy-duty damper springs to absorb drivetrain vibration.

• Thrust Bearing (Release Bearing): A brand-new release bearing.

  Installation Tip: Press the old bearing off your original carrier and press this new replacement bearing on.

• Spigot Bush: Includes a brand-new brass spigot/pilot bush (the ZD30 engine uses a brass bush rather than a roller bearing).

• Clutch Alignment Tool: Supplied for accurate centering during assembly.

• Durlock Pressure Plate Bolts: A complete set of high-tensile pressure plate bolts with Durlock wedge-locking washers to prevent backing out under heavy vibration.

Late Model Difference: BNN-9297-SS (10/2004 Onward)

If your GU Patrol was built from October 2004 onward, you will use part number BNN-9297-SS.

• Flywheel Design Difference: Unlike the early model, the late-model flywheel does not come with a ring gear attached.

• In this later setup, the starter ring gear resides on a completely separate factory drive plate.

• Installation Process: Remove your old dual-mass flywheel, unbolt the factory drive plate (with the ring gear), reinstall the drive plate back onto the crankshaft, and then mount the new Blusteele solid flywheel on top of it.

• The rest of the clutch cover, disc, bearing, and hardware remain standard heavy-duty components.
